Do you remember the days when a watch just told the time, date, and if you were lucky it had an alarm? Those days are over. Since Dick Tracy and his talking watching in the Funny Papers we had grand ideas for our timepieces. Casio were innovative with the Databank, I actuallly own a gold one from at least 10 years ago. They then capitalized on their GShock Brand. This watch, also I am a proud owner of (thank you Sandra), allows for you to take any bump in the road and keeps ticking, literally. This watch is dust, dirt, and shock resistant hence for the name G-Shock. It also is solar powered and most G-Shocks are up to 200 meters (truly) water resistant. Now that technology has help to evolve our simplest accesories such as the timepiece, where they have atomic time setting and wind measurements, over seas market are coming up with telephones and touch screen watches to bring state side. Although LG was initially first to bring their touch screen watch phone to the UK market Samsung may be ready with theirs much sooner. For those of us that are still looking for something stylish and chic, but still performing the basic functions of a watch but looks good or at least semi techinical, take a look at the Nixon Collection as well as the Casio Collection. Oh and for our newbies to the market there is a brand that Ellen (yes Ellen Degeneres is a great show) was giving away on her show, Toy Watch. Toy Watch has a strong following, this year’s biggest follower is Michelle Obama and there are others but she is the First Lady. I would be a fool to not mention a brand that has been around since I was in diapers, Swatch. Although it is not as technologically pertinent to the previous manufacturers it is till nice to see that their style is till keeping up with the trends. If you are look for more watch phones take a look at one of our friends over the ocean, Light in the Box. (Not all watch phones sold at Light in the Box are compatible with services in the United states, ask questions before you purchase.) For better luck try 3G Watches if you have a T-Mobile or AT&T account.
