Next up on our Back 2 School Guide from TechGuySmartBuy is Desktops.   Previously we laid out our guide for laptops/netbooks for all those heading back to school next month.   For those who need more processing power or for those who aren’t as mobile, desktops maybe the route you need to take.   For those commuting from home or staying at a dorm we have compiled at list of computers to suit your need.   Keep reading for our picks.

Dell’s entry-level desktop offers great performance for the price tag.   The Inspiron offers an Intel Core i3 dual-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB HD, Intel HD graphics card, and a DVD Burner.   With this you will have to pay/provide your own monitor
to anything out of it though.

This HP desktop system packs enough specs to for a powerful Windows 7 PC.   This Pavilion offers a 3.2GHz AMD Athlon II quad-core processor, 8GB  of RAM, 1TB HD, DVD burner, card reader, 6 USB ports, and a 23inch LED monitor.  Definitely a PC armed to the teeth.

This Pavilion can be yours for $629 at Walmart.

Apple Mac Pro
The most powerful beast of a desktop made by Apple, the Mac Pro offers users a 2.8GHz quad-core Intel Xenon processor that can go up to 12 cores. With specs choices of up to 32GB or 64GB of RAM, HD space up to 3TB, 5 USB ports, 4 FireWire ports, ATI Radeon HD graphics card that supports up to 6 displays.  This one has a hefty price tag for those can afford it but it is definitely worth it.

All-In-One Desktops

HP Omni z100
HP has an all-in-one solution for those looking to keep the costs low with the Omni series.   The Omni offers a dual-core AMD Athlon II processor, 2GB of RAM, 500GB HD, DVD burner, and a 20inch LED display.  Everything you need to get started for PC needs.

The Omni pricing starts at $429.99 at HP.

Dell Inspiron One 
Dell has a nice all-in-one/entertainment PC with the Inspiron One.  With the option of a touchscreen or not, the Inspiron One offers an option of AMD Athlon II processors (from dual-core to quad-core), up to 8GB of RAM, 1TB HD, TV tuner, DVD burner/Blu-Ray player, HDMI port, webcam, and a 23inch 1080p LED display.   For media hounds that don’t like to miss a beat, this is the PC for you.

Apple iMac
Apple offers everything except the kitchen sink in this all-in-one desktop.   The iMac comes in either a 21.5inch model or a 27inch.  Both offer an Intel Core i5 or i7 quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB to 2TB HD, AMD Radeon HD graphics chipset, built-in 8x SuperDrive, 4 USB ports, 1 FireWire port, SDXC card slot, and webcam.  Offering great power for those who have the money for it.

The iMac can be yours for $1,132 on Amazon or MacMall.
