As the moment of truth closely approaches we here at TechGuySmartBuy wanted to lay down all of the possible expectations for Apple’s big announcement tomorrow.   People have been waiting impatiently for this bit of news for some time now.    This will be the first big Apple announcement without Steve Jobs as the pressure mounts for the new CEO Tim Cook to keep the momentum of the company alive as well.  We, along with bloggers, analysts, journalists, and consumers are expecting mind-blowing, game-changing news that Apple is used to delivering.   Our expectations for tomorrow lies after the break.

  • The new iOS 5 will become official for all current iOS devices as Apple offers a date for availability.   With iOS 5, users get a new Android-like notifications center, reminders, Twitter integration throughout the OS, wireless sync/activation, a new BBM-like iMessage to communicate with other iOS 5 users, and more enhancements with other Apple apps.   Also recently uncovered with iOS 5 is a Siri-based, system-wide voice navigation system called Assistant where you can complete tasks like creating new appointments, composing text/iMessage, or finding directions via voice command.  The new Assistant feature would only work with whatever Apple announces on Tuesday.  The new update will be compatible with the iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 3rd/4th generations, and the iPad/iPad 2.  As well as whatever devices are announced tomorrow.
  • Speaking of what we expect to be announced tomorrow: we hope to see two iPhones to launch (the iPhone 4S an entry level iOS device starting at $99 for 8GB and a newer iPhone 5 offering a newer design along with a higher tier of specs like 1GB of RAM, 1GHz dual-core processor, 8MP camera, etc. for either $199 or higher.)   Although, the possibility of the iPhone 4S being the only device to become available this year as the i5 could become available sometime next year (I hope not, I really could use a new phone).   If the i4S is the only device coming then expect the fore-mentioned specs to arrive on that.
  • The new iPhones are said to be equipped with a Gobi chipset that supports both GSM and CDMA networks.  And with that said, we can expect Sprint to offer one or both of these two new iOS devices.   They have not denied it and current leaks suggest its arrival while this could also mean T-Mobile could finally offer them, all signs point to no.  So unless things change or T-Mo was trying to keep things on the hush, Sprint will be the only big carrier joining AT&T and Verizon as iPhone carriers.
  • Last but not least, we expect Apple to kill off the iPod Nano and Classic devices as the iPod Touch is their gold.   We also anticipate Apple to unveil a White iPod Touch for an added choice in color along with a possible 3G iPod Touch.  The iPod Touch w/ data will be priced like the iPad is with a monthly plan + no contract.   Officially making the iPod Touch,  the iPad mini.   A bump in specs is expected to make this new iTouch worthwhile.

Not sure which of these things will actually happen or won’t.   We expect Apple to launch two iPhones not one.   If they only unveiled the iPhone 4S (or iPhone 4+), I think the world would be severely disappointed but people would still pick it up.   What are you guys thoughts on the matter?  Less than 24 hours until the truth is finally revealed.
