We have seen many a 3D device, and the complaints are the same. You either have a headache after about 20 minutes or you really can not get a true 3D experience without the glasses. Well folks I am here to thrill you. The LG Thrill 4G for AT&T is what we have been waiting for in a 3D device, glasses not needed. The LG Thrill has made up for where some of the other 3D devices have lacked. While you can’t have everything 3D there is definitely more than enough on the LG Thrill 4G to satisfy your 2 dimensional needs.
Appearance

The initial look of the phone is your standard device on the market, light, pocketable, and comfortable. Slim design with a dual camera on the back, to capture your 3D pictures and video, and a flash. The camera is a 5mp high definition built for 3D imaging. The Thrill is packing a 4.3 TFT touch screen (480×800) WVGA to handle the glasses free 3D. The back also has a speaker that gives a great sound almost stereo quality. The back also has a rubberized feel that definitely gives a better grip. It has volume rockers on the right and a dedicated 3D button to take you to the 3D apps also known as 3D Space. The bottom has one of the 2 mics and the slot to access the battery/ back cover. The left side has the HDMI input and micro USB port. The top has your standard 3.5 mm headset input, the power/screen lock button and the second mic.
3D Support

3D quality is what this device was made for.

There is a designated area for all of the 3D capabilities in 3D Space. You can get there by pressing the icon or the button on the right side of the device. Please keep in mind response to viewing 3D content varies by individuals. It is also not recommended for very young children to watch 3D content for long periods of time. LG themselves have mentioned this as a safety precaution. On the LG Thrill you have 3D gaming apps and they are some of the games you have already seen in 2D such as Asphalt 6, Nova, and Let’s Golf 2 to name a few (they are also stock on the device). You are also able to obtain more 3D games through the Gameloft 3D Store app that is on the phone. You can take pictures in 3D and also view your 2D pictures in 3D. You can not zoom in, change settings, or use the front facing camera on pictures in 3D, only 2D but then later switch them into 3D as you view them. When sharing pictures you can choose whether you share it as 2D or 3D, just keep in mind in order to view the 3D pictures your viewers would need a 3D capable device. These same rules apply when recording videos in 3D and when you share them to YouTube it recognizes the 3D format and tags your video accordingly. When using the HDMI port you can share your 3D content from your device to a 3D TV or other devices with DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance). This comes in handle especially when downloading 3D movies from mSpot or some of the bootleg sites (that I don’t know about).

Performance/Battery Life

The device was a bit sluggish in certain instances, for example while running Spotify and then switching to emails and then to web surfing. The screen was a bit unresponsive but only during those times of heavy usage. The LG user interface is decent. It was not too overbearing but gave me some trouble with their Twitter and Facebook app. I greatly enjoyed the stock browser. It allowed me to have 8 pages open. This stood out for me because I am used to only about 4 or 5 pages accessible on other devices outside of downloading a secondary browser like Dolphin HD. I am not sure what to say about the battery life. There is a 1540 mAh battery that comes with theThrill.  I have figured by now it is pretty standard to purchase an extended or extra battery with any of the new smartphones. The processing of 4G/HSPA+, GPS, WiFi, and then your standard phone calls, texting, emails and web searching is very draining on the battery. I was able to hold a full charge over a matter of 7 hours with moderate phone calls, light Facebook action and web surfing. When I added in YouTube watching, and listening to music I managed to still go about 5 hours. Surprisingly I only received 4 hours with just answering a few emails, listening to iHeart radio and playing a few hours of various 3D and 2D games. The average user may not push these limits but just in case, you might want to carry an extra battery or a charger to juice up throughout the day.
TG 2 Cents
The LG Thrill 4G is a solid device that can offer users a wonderful Android experience. With the price tag at $99.99 with a new 2 year contract with AT&T you can get yourself an exclusive device that could be the envy of all of your friends 2D phones.  It has a nice build, comfortable to use and easy to navigate through. Pretty much another great Android device but the creme de la creme which I rather enjoyed was the main feature of the phone, the 3D effects. I didn’t get the headache, that can occur. I have tried other 3D devices and the onset of a headache was within 20 minutes or so where as the LG Thrill 4G allowed some great times with the 3D and Tylenol was not necessary. It is still a novelty to have the 3D and it looks great when taking pictures and recording videos. The downside is that when you send the videos or pictures to others they can’t experience it unless they also have a 3D device. The LG Thrill 4G has a place in tech history but whether you have room for it in your life is totally up to you. Don’t think of it as just a phone, and definitely not just a gaming device. Think of it as what it is, a thrill!
