iPad 2

Apple offers the best in software and best quality of app ecosystem with the iPad 2.   Sales of the Apple iOS tablet has dwarfed its competitors with the 9.7inch IPS display, 1GHz dual-core processor, and widest variety of app selection.   Apple’s tablet is still the creme de la creme of mobile computing.  The iPad 2 will set you back $499.99 for the Wi-Fi model and $629.99 for the 3G model for either AT&T or Verizon on a contract-free data plan.

Samsung’s Android premier tablet is the Galaxy Tab 8.9.   The Tab 8.9 is preferred form-factor of all of the Galaxy Tab series (7.0 Plus, 8.9, & 10.1) with the sleekest, thinnest tablet.   The Tab 8.9 offers the dual cameras, great screen resolution, and light weight make.   The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will set you back $449.99 for the Wi-Fi model or the 4G version for $479.99 at AT&T.   Definitely the premier Android tablet at the moment.

Nook Tablet

When Barnes & Noble first introduced the Nook Color, they definitely struck a chord with consumers as an e-reader that’s almost a tablet.   B&N definitely decided to step it up with the Nook Color offering a 1GHz dual-core processor, a 7inch IPS display, and the ability to read/record books to you as well.   The Nook Color will set you back $249 w/ Wi-Fi connectivity.

Amazon’s first time officially within the market with the Kindle Fire.   The Kindle Fire uses a customized version of Android on a 7inch IPS display, dual-core processor, and access to entire Amazon app ecosystem/ services.   Matching the PlayBook’s form factor minus the dual cameras in a small form-factor.   The Fire is only $199.99 and is available only on Amazon.com and is only Wi-Fi version.
