Yesterday IKEA shocked the world with the announcement of their first piece of consumer technology they look to sell in the near future. The Swedish company infamous known for their furniture, plans on selling you a new Smart TV, surround system, media center, & TV stand all inside one product dubbed the UPPLEVA (Experience). The new HDTV system will range in three different designs and the TVs coming in four different sizes.
The UPPLEVA system has an LED HDTV capable of 1080p HD, 400Hz refresh rate, 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, and Wi-Fi support. Also included: a 2.1 surround sound system w/ wireless subwoofers + a cordless external speaker, a media center that plays Blu-Ray discs, DVDs/CDs, and TV stand to hide cables and provide placement for your cable box, DVR, and gaming consoles. Pricing starts at under $1,000 for the base model as your purchase is covered by a 5-year guarantee as well.
The UPPLEVA will hit select countries in Europe this fall and a full scale global launch in Spring 2013. So depending on which country you reside in, expect to see the UPPLEVA system at an IKEA near you. We got the promo video below as an added bonus.
