At the stroke of midnight, Samsung announced all of the major carriers to offer the newest flagship smartphone with the Galaxy S III. Pricing is set to begin at $199.99 on contract but if you are n interest Verizon customer, expect to see the $299.99 LTE standard price tag. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon are all on board as pricing and exact availability will be announced by each individual carrier.
The newest Galaxy will support both of the popular versions of 4G: HSPA+ 42Mbps and LTE. For the first time, the US variant of the Galaxy S III could be identical to the overseas model with no changes from the carrier. As we suggested during the GS3 announcement, the US model will NOT offer the quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos processor but instead will use the dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S3. To sweeten the deal more so, Samsung is doubling the RAM and putting it to 2GB. Nice! We will keep you updated as each carrier makes their move.
T-Mobile is launching their HSPA+42Mbps Galaxy S III on June 21st. No word on official pricing as of yet.
Verizon will be taking pre-orders starting June 6th at 7AM. Pricing for the 16GB model starts at $199.99 and the 32GB at $249.99.
Sprint is also launching on June 21st as that looks to be the actual launch for all carriers with pre-orders kicking off tomorrow June 5th. Pricing also appears to be the same with 16GB for $199.99 & 32GB for $249.99. Sprint’s version will also have Google Wallet preloaded.
US Cellular preorders kick off on June 12th with a July availability. Ouch!
And lastly AT&T is also doing preorders starting June 6th but they do have an edge against the other carriers. Consumers will have the option to pick up a 16GB model for $199.99 but instead of offering a 32GB model, they are adding the option of adding a 16GB microSD card for $39. In addition, AT&T will offer an exclusive Red color coming later in the summer.
