Sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but it is being worked on.  Imagine your touchscreen device having a keyboard that slightly rises above the screen for more accurate typing.  Sounds cool?  Well in 2007 the technology was being worked on but with the overflow of touchscreen devices it was thought to be “unnecessary”.  I know auto correct doesn’t make it easy to type out a simple text message, email and extensive documents may be worse.  With the new technology from 5 years ago, another oxymoron, the company behind tactile layers will be looking to improve your texting, emailing mobile phone experience.

Have you ever visited Damn You Auto Correct. The site is filled with the most humorous auto correct mishaps sent to family and friends and then posted, even on Facebook, for the world to see and laugh.  Still don’t believe it can happen to you.  Just take a visit over at The Funny Junk where it happens also.

Would you like to see of less this happening to you and more accurate typing.  Tactus Technology is the company behind the idea and technology.  They are soon working to bring new ways to have our most innovative products more intelligent and not just “smart”.  Here is what Craig Ceisla the CEO has to say:
“The origin of Tactus goes back to 2007,” said CEO Craig Ciesla in a video.  “Looking at the iPhone and all the elegance of that user interface, I also realized that I like my BlackBerry with the buttons … . As human beings, we really want to be able to feel things; we really want that tactility.”
The layer is flat and transparent and wouldn’t add any thickness to a gadget since it would replace a layer that already exists, Tactus says.
For tech consumers, devices that could benefit from the system include smartphones, tablets, e-readers, gaming devices and remote controls, the company says.  But it also has potential in automobiles, medical devices and personal navigation systems, they say.
Tactus has partnered with Touch Revolution, a touchscreen manufacturer. The first Tactus products will be available by mid-2013, Ciesla said.
