Xbox’s latest dashboard update brought many treats along for the ride, among one of them was the SmartGlass app.   But without a companion app to use with it, SmartGlass was useless until now.  Announced earlier this week, today anyone owning a Surface RT or Windows 8 device can now access the app on their Xbox 360.

For everyone else without a new tablet or computer using Microsoft’s newest OS the wait is unknown.  The SmartGlass app will be added to the My Xbox Live app on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.   Microsoft looks to took a great idea but unlike Apple’s AirPlay, consumers can enjoy it no matter what platform they are using.  For more details on why you want to use SmartGlass (and you will want to use it), check out the video below.
