T-Mobile’s President and CEO John Legere had quite the eventful day at CES today.  I haven’t seen this many gifts since Oprah (and Google I/O).  He previously went to bat for all of his carrier’s customers and decided to offer unlimited Data Plans for $70.  Now he wants to give customers free 4G service on their mobile computing devices.

Did you hear me right?  Yeah.  T-Mobile wants to give you free 4G connectivity on your notebook, tablets, and Ultrabook.  This is for everyone regardless of your carrier.  It is only limited to devices that carrier the 4G Connect program, though.  This will allow you to leave the store, wherever you purchase your 4G Connect enabled device, working and ready for the internet or emails.  By doing this do you think T-Mobile could potentially become the carrier of choice in high metro markets?  Too good to be true you say?  Well not really.  With the way the technology game is changing this will allow T-Mobile to set themselves apart from the other carriers.  This will allow current customers and potential customers to experience T-Mobile’s 4G speeds.  Everybody wins!  T-Mobile has been known to shake things up, especially in the phone department. (You see what I did there?)

By introducing the 4G Connect program, this allows free access to their 4G service.  Just think you can use T-Mobile instead of searching for a hotspot, and it’s free!  Besides, Wi-Fi may not be offered everywhere and that’s free too.  I know what you are looking for, the catch.  Consider this, you are already in the market for a device such as a tablet, or the new slim designed Ultrabook, maybe even a Windows 8 notebook.  Price point for the devices are just about the same wherever you go.  All you have to do is look for one of the select devices that have the 4G Connect and you get free 4G internet wherever T-Mobile is offered.  Some devices include Dell Inspiron 14z available at Dell.com and HP dm1 available at Target and HP.com. NOW that you see this is serious I want to apologize for this next bit of information.  While this is a great deal and partnership, you are limited to 200 mb of 4G data service a month, over a period of 2 years, still for free.  If you are in need of more data, you can purchase it starting as low as $10 a month for 1 GB, obviously through T-Mobile.  Where this should not be a deal breaker at all, you just have to limit your 4G blazing fast speeds on T-Mobile’s service.  It’s all about conservation.  Besides who else is giving you free service, just Wi-Fi, and oh yeah T-Mobile!!  Enjoy!!
