Not to be upstaged by NVIDIA, Qualcomm held their press conference earlier this evening to show off what they have been working on.  The company behind nearly every damn processor in Android, Windows Phone, and now BlackBerry are moving past the likes of the S-series (S3, S4, S4 Pro) to bring forth a new line of chipsets.  Introducing the Snapdragon 600 and 800 series processors.

The 600 series chipset will pick up where the S4 Pro left off.  The quad-core 600 is 40% faster than the S4 Pro w/ speeds up to 1.9GHz and a faster Adreno 320 GPU for graphics.  One of the best processors just got even better.  Expect to see the 600 popping up in newer devices by the 2nd quarter of the year.  But no moving on to an even faster and stronger chipset.

The 800 series processor is Qualcomm’s new state-fo-the-art designed for mobile computing.  The quad-core 800 is 75% faster than previous chipsets w/ speeds up to 2.3GHz, an even faster Adreno 330 GPU for graphics that processes double the speeds of the current model.  Also on-board is a faster LTE modem, faster Wi-Fi radio, lower power consumption, support for Miracast, Dolby Digital Audio, and Ultra HD video (4x the 1080p pixel density).   The 800 will definitely be the chipset you will want inside of your device as it will begin appearing inside newer devices by the middle of the year.

Looks like NVIDIA just got burned but we will have to demo devices running the Snapdragon 800 and the Tegra 4 to see who’s really the winner.
