Today, Xbox's very own Major Nelson announced that Microsoft's console would be the exclusive gaming console for Redbox Instant. Redbox's new streaming service is powered by Verizon as it offers monthly subscriptions at $8 for DVDs and $9 for Blu-Rays at four one-night rentals from the Red-colored kiosks. Along with the rentals come unlimited streaming as well.
The Xbox app will arrive to those already a Redbox Instant beta member in coming days. Of course, an Live Gold membership is required. If you haven't signed up yet, you can do so here. Beta members get the first month free and then payments kick in afterwards. The service is rumored to launch full-scale at the end of March.
Another participant in the reigning streaming services enters the arena. Time hopefully it will last the test of time as Netflix has.
