Announced & unveiled during this year’s CES, NVIDIA’s portable gaming console will begin taking pre-orders next week.  Originally called Project SHIELD, it is now just the NVIDIA SHIELD.  In all caps, just like that.  Coming armed with NVIDIA’s latest quad-core Tegra 4 processor + 72-core GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 5inch 720p HD display, bass speakers, mini HDMI-out, and running stock Android 4.2.1.

The controller easily resembles that of the Xbox 360 which is a good thing.  SHIELD comes with a $349 w/ pre-orders starting next Monday, May 20th and will begin shipping in May.  Retailers like Gamestop, Newegg, Micro Center, and Canada Computers will be taking orders online.
