According to secret court documents published by The Guardian, Verizon has been under orders by the United States National Security Agency to hand over call details on a daily basis.  The court order was signed by a federal judge from the US Foreign Intelligence Survey Court and is backed/supported by the White House.   This is straight out of the Will Smith movie, “Enemy Of The State”.  I’m sure it was always happening but now out into the forefront.

I hope you didn’t think with all of your data + information out there, the government isn’t keeping tabs on you.

The actual call information includes data exchanged by both parties, location data, how long the calls lasted, and additional info that does NOT include the actual content of the call.  Although Verizon hasn’t officially responded (and probably won’t) but here’s an internal memo being sent out to VZW employees uncovered by the Wall Street Journal below.

I hope no one is making illegal transaction over the phone anyways but now you have more evidence to support why you shouldn’t do it.   This whole situation will open many issues on privacy and government policies.  We’ll keep you guys posted as more details become available on the matter.
