It took a while but Apple looks like they will finally begin offering a service they should have been doing: repairing cracked iPhone displays.  According to a report by MacRumors, Apple will begin the service with the current iPhone 5.  The repair will take about 10 minutes and will cost you $149 and can be bought with or without the AppleCare+ plan.

Apple will make even more $$$ by taking on in-house repairs.

Mind you without their plan, a replacement i5 will cost you around $229 and if you have storage than 16GB – it will be more.  So grabbing AppleCare+ plan doesn’t sound like a terrible idea, especially for those who crack their screen often.  Expect Apple to begin offering in-house repairs starting in July.
