Ever wondered why with all of this technology that exists in the world today, why isn’t there a way to prevent losing items (wallet, purse, etc.)?   I’m sure everyone has lost their wallet or left it in the back of a cab.  Or dropped their car/house keys underneath your car seat or couch at home.  The makers of Tile felt the same way and created solution for such a dilemma.

Keeping your items from getting misplaced, one year at a time.

Introducing Tile. A new Bluetooth 4.0-enabled tag w/ a built-in speaker that works with an app to find lost items.   Graduated from the Selfstarter alumni of successful crowd-backed projects, Tile is aiming to be the world’s largest lost-and-found.  The tags use double-sided adhesive that allows it to stick to any surface.  The Tile tags has a battery life of one year after activation.  The app part of the solution gives you a GPS location of it’s last location and within 50-150ft, it lets you know when you are getting closer.

The app allows you to share access to your Tiles w/ the people you trust.  You can add up to 10 Tiles to one account.  At the moment, there is no support for Android BlackBerry, or Windows Phone.  The Tiles & app requires Bluetooth 4.0 to use it as Android currently doesn’t support it yet.

Interested consumers, can pre-order it now for $18.95 for one Tile as it is expected to ship late this year/early next year.  Is this something you think would be worth while?  Share your thoughts below.
