At midnight, Amazon finally revealed their latest rendition of the Kindle Fire tablets w/ the HDX line.  Now faster, long-lasting, improved displays, more powerful chipsets, and works better w/ your TV.  Like the Fire HD, the HDX will ship in a inch and 8.9inch display models w/ a few distinct differences between the two as far as specs.

Amazon is making sure their Kindle Fire line matures enough to properly compete.

The 7inch Fire HDX offers a 1920 x 1200 resolution + 323 ppi while the 8.9inch sports a 2560 x 1600 + 339 ppi.   Both models offer a front-facing HD camera for video-chatting but the 8.9inch is equipped w/ a wide-aperture f/2.2 8MP lens + LED flash.  The HDX tablets are powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU + quad-core Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, offering 11-hour battery life of mixed usage & 17-hours of reading, and dual speakers w/ Dolby Digital Plus Audio.

Both tablets are using Amazon’s new Fire OS 3.0 and are available for pre-order right now.  You can get them in three storage sizes: 16GB, 32GB or 64GB.  The 7inch HDX starts at $229 for the Wi-Fi version (lands on 10/18) and $329 for the LTE version (lands on 11/14) that’s provided by AT&T or Verizon.  The 8.9inch HDX starts at $379 for the Wi-Fi model (lands on 11/7) and $479 for the LTE model (lands on 12/10).
