During Sony’s press event that kicked off in the early morning here in the states, they announced two new treats on the way.  First they unveiled a new-and-improved PS Vita to the world.  This is just after a recent price-cut of the original Vita too.  Sony obviously had bigger plans for its portable gaming solution.

The refreshed Vita is now 20% thinner (15mm thick) + 15% lighter (219 grams) as it will now offer a new LCD display over the OLED in the previous model, a total of 1GB of storage, new micro-USB charging, and now adds an extra hour of battery life – now giving you 6-hours of juice.  The new Vita will now come in a variety of colors: White, Black, Blue, Yellow, Pink, and Olive Green.  Also added in a the option for a new 64GB memory card as well.

The new Vita is scheduled to land in Japan on October 10th while the rest of the world will have to wait for pricing + availability form Sony.
