Earlier this week, The Information reported that Google is continuing to expand as they are working to get into energy-use data w/ their own smart thermostat dubbed EnergySense.  This represents Internet-connected thermostats that can assist in more energy monitoring.  Android Police got tipped to more details on Google’s energy management system.

This might actually be cheaper than the Nest.

Google is said to be working w/ Ecobee to create the hardware units for their service.  If you never heard of the company, they have been making smart thermostat solutions for a greener home since 2007.

EnergySense users will be able to control your home thermostat via Android or web app as you can see from the images above.  Changing your temperature would simply require you to slide your finger up or down over the app’s temperature indicator.  Users would also be able to create schedules (awake, asleep, home, away) for different temperatures.  At the current time, the service lacks automation but Google but that along w/ possible Google Now integration is in the works.
