Just like w/ the NEX-5 turning into the A5000, last night Sony did the same by turning the NEX-6 into the A6000.  Modeled after the NEX-6 body + the NEX-7’s 24.3MP APS-C sensor + the A7/7R image processor + all-new innards = what you see above.  Definitely sounds like a considerable upgrade.

Sony’s best mirrorless gets better.

The big selling point, as if this needed more, is the 179 auto-focus points as Sony dubbed this the world’s fastest AF system.  Damn!  Also along for the ride is ISO up to 25,600, built-in DLNA + Wi-Fi support, OLED viewfinder, tilting 3inch LCD display, and a nice grip.  If this had an audio jack, this would be the truth.

Look out for the A6000 to launch sometime in mid-April for $800 w/ the 16-50mm kit lens too.  What a steal!  Just a matter of time to see what other NEX shooters get the rebrand treatment.
