We already know about what we can expect from Cortana, the virtual assistant coming to Windows Phone, but now more details have been unearthed.  Earlier this week it was reported that Microsoft just put a $15 billion investment into location-sharing app Foursquare to make Bing + Windows better.  We now know that that wasn’t just for good faith.

Bloomberg is reporting that the investment will become a huge asset to Cortana as it will powered by Foursquare.  The location-based data will help in finding tips, discounts, and suggestions based on your location.  This will be in addition to weather information, notifications, events, location information, and access to Bluetooth + Wi-Fi controls.

The voice-activated Cortana is set to launch sometime in April as part of the Windows Phone 8.1 update.  Cortana  seems to be getting more and more interesting as the news comes out.
