Remember one year ago when they unveiled 4K TVs and they were around the full price of a Honda?   Yeah, manufacturers were able to lower the pricing point dramatically within that time to something a lot more reasonable.  Samsung is leading the charge to make sure you buy theirs over the competition.

Samsung is leading the charge into 4K with the new line of curved UHD TVs.

Yesterday at the Guggenheim, Samsung reintroduced their new 2014 line of Ultra HD (4K= resolutions up to 3840 × 2160) HDTVs.   All equipped w/ newer version of the Smart Hub suite for Samsung TVs.  A notable new feature in their new multitasking option that allows you to simultaneously watch 4 screens at once.  That means web browsing in one window, watch Netlfix on one, watch live TV, on another, and then watch sports on the last one.  Truly insane!

In case you’re wondering what the hell am I going to watch on my 4KTV, Samsung has got you covered.  They have partnered up w/ Fox to supply them w/ a 1TB worth of exclusive UHD content like Night At The Museum, The Counselor, & X-Men Origins: Wolverine to name a few.  Also in the works, partnerships w/ streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, & M-Go and providers like Comcast + DirecTV as well.

Here’s the breakdown of the pricing on all of the upcoming models.

  • H8000: A curved Smart LED TV that offers high quality visuals without the UHD resolution.  The 48inch model has a $2,000 price tag on it.  The 55inch will cost you $2,500 and the 65inch for $3,400.
  • U8550: The base model curved UHD TV starts at $2,500 for the 50inch, $3,000 for the 55inch, $3,500 for the 60inch, $4,000 for the 65inch, and $6,000 for the 75inch.
  • U8700: Arriving in both 55inch + 65inch sizes as pricing as yet to be released.
  • U9000: The 55inch ($4,000) and the 65inch ($5,000) are both set to arrive in March.
  • 105inch Curved UHDTV:  This mammoth of a TV will arrive sometime during the 3rd/4th quarter w/ pricing details to be unveiled later.

So which one are do you plan on picking up?
