Last time we shared news on the forthcoming Healthbook app for iOS 8 we only knew the basics of what it can do.  Now thanks to Mark Gurman over at 9to5Mac, we now have more in-depth knowledge on what the app will cover in its entirety.  Healthbook will do a whole lot more than just fitness tracking.  More details lie below.

Healthbook makes S Health look like a cute effort by Samsung.

Healthbook will utilize a card-based UI like Apple used in Passbook as you can see in the mockups.  The app will be able to analyze many points of health from activity, blood sugar levels, heart rate, diet, monitor your sleeping habits and more.   No word on whether or not if the new iPhone will have these abundance of sensors built-in or will the app have to rely on the iWatch or other 3rd-party accessories to measure proper readings.

Also along w/ tracking all of your info, there will be an Emergency Card feature.  This holds all of your important data based on your Healthbook readings like medications you take, blood type, name, birthday, and if you are an organ donor or not.   This info can be accessed via the lockscreen and can be programmed to call a family member to notify them in case of an emergency.

Healthbook is shaping up to be one of the most important apps on iOS 8 thus far.
