amazon_prime_hero If you are an Amazon Prime member, you viewing selection for the Instant Video is about to get a whole lot better.  Announced this morning, HBO just signed a multi-year agreement w/ Amazon to get their oh-so popular content to their Prime members.  Starting on May 21st, you will be have access to HBO’s library of original content for you to choose from.

Sorry, no Game Of Thrones though.

So at 1st, you will have access to shows like The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Big Love, Deadwood, Eastbound & Down, Family Tree, Enlightened, Treme, early seasons of Boardwalk Empire and True Blood, as well as mini-series like Band of Brothers, John Adams and more.   Meanwhile newer shows like Girls, The Newsroom and Veep will become available three years after airing.  Other than their shows, you will access to the documentaries and comedy specials as well.

Does this mean we could see HBO content on Netflix in the near future?  This could go either way.  HBO may see Netflix as a threat w/ their growing user base or could utilize them subscribers for a short period of time before making HBO Go a paid separate package.  Only time will tell on this one.
