Lytro-IllumLytro has been quiet for quite some time now, 2 years to be exact.  Lytro utilizes light-field technology to allow you to refocus your shot after its taken – this was long before HTC’s UFocus came about.  Apparently, they were working on this.  Introducing the Lytro Illum: their next phase in light-field photography.

The Illum camera has a 40 megaray light field sensor (megarays doesn’t translate into megapixels FYI) w/ a f/2.0 30-250mm lens + 8x optical zoom, a high-speed shutter, macro features, 3D photo shooting, and a tilting 4inch touchscreen display.  It is actually powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 CPU seen in the HTC One M8 & Galaxy S5.  The Illum is capable of a video-like feature called Light Field Animations, that animates the effects of image refocusing.  This beautiful design reminds me of an affordable Hasselblad.

This is Lytro 2.0.

The Illum will be shipping sooner than you think.  It will go on sale this July and those interested can pre-order it now for introductory price of $1,499 but when it launches officially, it will cost you $1,599.  For more info on light field.
