iOS 8 lead
Before the official launch of iOS 8, there was an interesting rumor of the new OS update will bring split screen abilities to the iPad. While that wasn’t one of the features highlighted at the keynote, apparently the ability to do so is hidden inside of the beta version of iOS 8.

If this happens soon, Samsung better watch their backs.

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith found it hiding in the code and hacked into the iOS 8 iPad Simulator. This allows you to resize the screens using 2-finger gestures. Allowing you to take up 1/4 or 3/4 of the display. There is already talks of Apple pushing developers to code apps that can be scaled into different sizes. This would be for the bigger iPhone on the way but would apply to this as well.

Interestingly enough, this is a feature Samsung already touts having over the iPad as you can split the screen to get more done. No word as of yet on whether or not this will make the official version of iOS 8, come to version 8.1, or an even later update.
