As we spend more time w/ the OnePlus One, we dove into the optics department to see how well this fares out from a performance perspective.  Being a relative newcomer to the mix, OnePlus has to prove itself in many ways.   The rear shooter on the One is a powerful one but not the mightiest.  It is a f/2.0 13MP Sony Exmor sensor equipped w/ a 6-element lens setup.   You're missing the joys of OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) which the likes of LG + Nokia utilize for a more steadier shot/footage.   Now to see what all of these specs mean in real-world conditions.

The 13MP performs quite well as a shooter.  Its just the camera software + rendering that I'm not too keen about.   Any photos taken w/o a great deal of light will show off some noticeable noise.  The colors are a bit diluted as well.  It's like the saturation is quite low in photos.  For the most part, the new Instagram filters + editing can tweak that - if you're using photos for a social aspect.  Anything else like printing out large photos might require some Lightroom treatment.

The same goes for the video side of things as well.  Whether its 1080p or 4K quality, you still get great quality w/ diluted colors.  The audio taken from the One is quite stellar thanks to the 3 mics on board.  No huge complaints in that area.  Although I'm hoping  that future software updates can repair this matter and this shooter will be quite the contender.
