Earlier today, Jay-Z held a press conference in NYC to unveil a new music-streaming service by the name of Tidal.   Tidal as in turning the tide.  But he’s not alone w/ it.  He has teamed up w/ Coldplay, Rihanna, Daft Punk, Alicia Keys, Calvin Harris, Jack White, Madonna, Usher, Arcade Fire, Deadmau5, and Beyoncé as equal partners.

Jay-Z’s new service is made for Hi-Fi audiophiles, videos, and better revenue for the artist.

Hov acquired the company for $56 million from Aspiro earlier this month.   Tidal is looking to differentiate itself from the slew of streaming services out in the market.  It will to provide better double the streaming revenue as opposed to Spotify and others along w/ a High-Fidelity quality tier, editorials, and HD video content.

Tidal is available right now in 2 tiers: Premium & Hi-Fi.  Both offer HD video & curated editorial content.  Premium offers standard quality music for $9.99 per month while the other offers lossless hi-fi sound for $19.99 per month.  There are free trials of 30-days available for both tiers.

Tidal already has an uphill battle w/ the already crowded streaming community of Spotify, Google Music, and the upcoming Apple-rebranded Beats Music.  But this is Hov & company making a stand for the music industry and the artform.

What do you guys think about it?
