Seems like everyone might be moving away from micro-USB for charging mobile devices.  The reversible USB Type-C is the future.  Apple’s new MacBook + the new Chromebook Pixel already are the 1st to make the move on the laptop side of things.

For the uninitiated, the Type-C standard is able to offer power, display, and data through a single port.  For laptops, this will eliminate having a power jack for charging, USB for data transfers, and Display Ports separately.  Of course at the moment being so new, it would still require additional adapters and such.

Google is ready to make this the new norm for their future devices.  Google’s product manager Adam Rodriguez says the company is committed to the new spec entirely.  So we’ll definitely see this is the next wave of Chromebooks and possible this year’s Nexus device(s).
