Just as previous reports presumed, Spotify had their press event in NYC to expand their list of services for their subscribers.   The company’s CEO calls this a ‘massive leap forward that goes beyond the conventional formats.’

Starting things off, they will have a new version of the app.  This will add the ability to suggest playlists to cater to your your day.  Think of it like Songza which can be seen within Google All Access Music as well.  This won’t be limited to music as they have unveiled the addition of podcasts coming to their app which is interesting and making sure to capitalize off the boom of it.

Next up w/ have video services added to the mix.   In case you were thinking that it was just music videos , you were wrong.  They have partnered w/ content providers to offer plenty of visual content like ABC, Adult Swim, BBC, Comedy Central, E!, ESPN, Fusion, Maker Studios, MTV, NBC, The Nerdist, RadioLab, Slate, TED, TWiT, Vice News, & WNYC.

Spotify is also looking to make sure they cover all of their bases by making sure they have something for those who exercise.  They have a new Running feature that will crank out music by detecting your running tempo.  This feature will be available to all Spotify users on iOS right now.  They also are looking to add Nike+ integration into the mix as that won’t become available until sometime later this year.

All of this will make Spotify you’re one-stop shop for all things media.  So who’s looking forward to giving these new treats a shot?
