Tesla is finally looking to expand their portfolio as the Model X crossover is going to production.  I know many of you are getting excited for the upcoming Tesla Model 3.   If you’ve ever seen or driven a Model S, the excitement in a more affordable model is upon the horizon.

We were all under the impression that the Model 3 would be one vehicle but have been completely wrong.  The folks over at the Wall Street Journal talked w/ Tesla’s CTO JB Straubel who revealed it will actually be 2 different vehicles: a sedan & a crossover.  Offering this variety at different price points, Tesla hopes to get more of their vehicles out in to the market.

Currently they have about over 56,000 Model S sedans on the road and only a few thousand of their earlier outing, the Roadster.  They want to get to the point of cranking out 500,000 vehicles per year in hopes of having 1 million electric vehicles on the road by 2020.

With the Model 3 said to start around $35,000 & coming in 2017, do you plan on picking one up?
