Yes, another gaming headset review.   Like I said previously, I am on the hunt for the best gaming headset - for my tastes anyways.  Thus far, the RIG Flex LX had the best sound, the RIG 500E had the best comfort, and the Striker Pro Zx had the best all-around everything.  We've been trying to get our hands on some sort of Astro product for quite some time now and it has arrived.

Now, its time for us to check out the A40 + Mixamp M80 Halo 5 Edition.  We've been using it for a few weeks - actually before Halo 5 launched.  So after a few weeks of using it for Halo 5 and COD: Black Ops III, we're ready to tell you all about it.  Our review for the special edition A40s lie below.

Design/Comfort

The Halo 5 edition A40 is pretty much the same as the usual A40s.  It is made from a lightweight design comprised of mostly plastic, a little bit of rubber, and metal for the coils that allows you to adjust the headset.  Along w/ that you get swappable faceplates held by magnets for customization where you switch the unidirectional mic to wear on either side.

These A40s are really comfortable to wear for long periods of gaming.  It has foam headband and earcups to help out w/ that.  With the material it's made from, you will get a little bit hot while playing but not dripping w/ sweat.  Definitely loving what Astro has to offer.

Sound

Astro made sure to equip this w/ its 2nd-gen proprietary Mixamp M80 which attaches to your controller.  This helps out w/ the game-to-voice balancing as well as 3 different EQ audio modes (zero bass, medium bass, & heavy bass) to choose from.  The EQ modes still works on incoming voice chats as well.

When it comes to actual sound quality, you're getting the best.  I was impressed w/ the audio quality while gaming and even blown away while using it on smartphones & tablets.  Super crisp audio, deep baas, and amazing mids for an amazing audio experience. The only real downside of these cans is the lack of surround sound.

TG 2 Cents

Again, since this is our 1st foray into the world of Astro Gaming.  I wasn't certain on what to expect other than hearing great things about them.  I can definitely now see what all of the hype is about.  These are definitely my favorite gaming headphones thus far.  Offering up the perfect blend of a lightweight design, comfort, and amazing sound - which is everything I've been looking for.   So if you are into Halo 5 like that (or not) and in need of some new gaming cans, you search ends here.  On a personal stance, my hunt is over but for the site, it must go on obviously.

To Buy Or Not To Buy

These are special edition A40s as it sports a Halo 5 color scheme as well as offering up a free Requisition Pack for the Warzone multiplayer part of the game.  Priced at $220, you can use them for gaming and phone audio as well.  Even though it is for the Xbox One, this will wok on the PS4 and PC as well.  This is an easy Buy.
