HTC_Vive_2.0Even though its only been out for less than a year now, HTC’s effort into VR (the Vive) has been getting high praises.  At CES, the company decided to step things up a bit further w/ a new model called the Vive Pre.  So what new bells & whistles did HTC add tot his thing to make it even better?

Now on the Vive Pre, you have a more comfortable headset that can fit over glasses. Front-facing camera to really explore the world of the virtual world & reality.  Ex: You’ll be able to open doors, interact w/ people, and even take a seat.  Also, it can help you out from walking into a wall in real life w/ the headset on.

Along w/ the headset, the Vive controllers have been upgrade as well.  You now have softer edges, better balance, more lightweight, a new dual stage trigger, and haptic feedback.  Each controller lasts only about 4 hours per charge but w/ VR in its infancy, I don’t see you needing more time than that at this point and time.

HTC will offer 7,000 new developer units ahead of the official release in April.  No word as of yet on what the pricing will be like.  But Oculus may have set the bar w/ them charging $500 for theirs.
