DSC03761Well, it was only a matter of time and it looks like it will be upon us soon.  According to the folks over at The Information, Google is looking to ditch hardware partners for Nexus phones.  Google wants to take more control over how their Nexus devices are made.

The report suggests Google would take the Apple approach by controlling the entire process and only using outside sources for manufacturing parts.  They hope this will put the Nexus devices in better shape to fight Apple in the high-end market and to make up for the iPhone’s lack of Google services.   This wouldn’t be a complete surprise as Google already builds their Pixel products (laptop & now a tablet), so a smartphone would the task next up to tackle.

This could be part of the Android Silver project which has been rumored for a while now too.  Do you guys think Google is ready to build a phone all on its own?
