Believe it or not, the same tough & durable Gorilla Glass mostly known for Android smartphones is now making its way to vehicles in the very near future.  But the 1st stop is the upcoming Ford GT on its windshield & rear engine cover for it.

It will arrive in the form of a special multilayered hybrid windshield.   It will make it 25-50% lighter & tougher, making it shatter-resistant & scratch-resistant.  It will also make the vehicle weight 30% lighter as well as beefing up the driving performance & fuel efficiency.  The folks over at Corning are at the Ford booth at the NY Auto Show.  Stop by the Jacob Javitz Center to see its toughness as they fire ice balls at a sheet of Gorilla Glass w/ an air cannon.

It was unveiled back in mid-December but we somehow missed it.  It should arrive as an option for future cars.  Expect to see it coming to a windshield near you besides the GT as Corning is working w/ Ford to bring the cost down.
