Back in late October, we handled the device we called the perfect Google phone: the Nexus 6P.  It was easily love at 1st sight for me per se - and many others as well.  It is a big device as it has been my daily driver since the beginning.

Almost 6 months later, we figured it was time to give it a 2nd take.  While there were only security upgrades to the 6P, still loving the Marshmallow flavor on this Nexus.  We wanted to come back to the 6P and discuss our overall experience w/ it since our 1st take.

  • This Nexus is the only device I put a case on since my iPhone days.  Other than blowing off the lint when removing the case, the Black (or Graphite) color has held up quite well over time.  Google has added a lovely Matte Gold color option which causes a bit of slight envy though.  Still rocking w/ the all-Black.
  • The 5.7inch QHD AMOLED panel still shows everything that shown on it beautifully.  I've been enjoying bright colors, sharp clarity, and crispness.  All of this w/o having to raise the screen brightness past the halfway mark.
  • The f/2.0 12.3MP Sony camera sensor on the rear is still a great all-around shooter.  Still works best in HDR mode even though you have to wait a little bit, the results are worth it.  While it may lack the clarity of the Galaxy devices, it can still keep up & surpass in certain low-light situations.
  • Several months later, the 2GHz 64-bit Snapdragon 810 v2.1 w/ 3GB of RAM holds up exceptionally well.  Still w/ zero lag w/o having to reboot it or close out all apps on a regular basis.  Absolutely zero qualms in this department whatsoever.
  • The 3450 mAh battery still holds up months later of heavy usage.  I've been using the 6P as my secondary device but for all of my streaming needs on-the-go.  I am still capable of pulling out around 13-15 hours on a single charge.
  • The front-facing speakers on thew latest Nexus are still the best in the business - even better than the Moto X IMO.  Still about that crisp sound w/ great clarity behind it.  Easily a staple of my personal needs in a smartphone today.
  • Not much has changed in the software aspect, Now On Tap and Direct Share are cool but I find myself not using as much if at all.  Doze & App Standby keeps doing their thing in regards to management & a more efficient battery.  Still the same Marshmallow goodness.
  • After reviewing it, I shut off the Nexus Imprint fingerprint scanner.   I haven't gotten used to utilizing it as a part of my everyday life.  But after turning back on, it is still as fast as ever.

Nexus 6P revisit-3

Ain't nothing changed since the Nexus 6P 1st hit the scene as its still best pure Android device out there right now.

Although I opted out of adding Android N beta preview on the 6P, ain't nothing changed about the way I feel about it.  We originally gave the 6P an A+ and that grade remains the same.  High-end performance for the internals & the cameras, superb audio, all-day battery, and fast & accurate fingerprint reader.  This device checks off every box most consumers would want on an Android smartphone.  Make sure you swing by our original review to see and compare our views from then till now.
