iOS 10 stockNow for the last and biggest piece of the WWDC: iOS 10.  There are tons of new features coming.  So much that it might kill any hype for the iPhone 7 or not.  Last year Siri was more or less the focus as this time around things are shifting towards 3D Touch.  

With all of these features, will it be worth getting the next iPhone?

3D Touch can now be used on the lockscreen as well as can work w/ 3rd-party apps.  For example, you’ll be able to use it to get scores & more from ESPN by a press or long press w/o opening the app.  It will also be able to view notifications on the lockscreen as well.  And speaking of live views & graphically-detailed updates now on the lockscreen.  

We have raise-to-wake as your iPhone will awake when you take it out of your pocket to raise it towards you.  Siri is now open to developers.  It will be utilized in more places like vehicles via CarPlay, QuickType for typing for better suggestions, scheduling, contact info, recent addresses, and more.  The Phone app can now transcribe voicemails.  

Messages got a lot better too.  You can replace words w/ emoji, handwrite messages, send private messages via invisible ink that will be revealed when the receiver swipes over it, animations that take over the screen for special occasions like balloons for birthdays and such, Apple Music, Maps, & Siri are now integrated into Messages as well.  You can send $$$ to friends using iMessage via Apple Pay.  

Maps now offer OpenTable & Uber/Lyft support for food & travel.  Also, w/ smarter AI to guess the what directions you might search based on your previous travels.  Photos take on Google Photos by adding facial recognition and a Memories tab to better organize.  Photos will also create its own montages w/ its own music.  The Home app is what Homekit was working towards as you now have an app to monitor all of your smart home products in one place.  And lastly, Apple Music gets a new redesign from the bottom up.  While most of the changes are only visual, you still have the new lyrics option to rap/sing along w/ your favorite tunes.  

Here’s the complete list of iOS 10-compatible devices:  iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Mini 4, iPod Touch 6, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, and the iPhone 6s Plus.  Apple will release iOS 10 in developer preview today, public beta coming in July, & a full launch in the fall.
