lenovo phab 2 tangoLenovo made sure to kick off their Tech World conference w/ an interesting product.   Introducing the Phab 2 Pro, the world’s 1st consumer Project Tango device.   For the uninitiated, Project Tango is Google’s augmented reality platform that can map out your environment using cameras to create virtual worlds for gaming and other practical uses.  This device will be the 1st consumers will be able to take advantage of this.  

Its time for Augmented Reality to go mainstream. 

It will be armed to the teeth w/ all of the specs you can imagine.  For starters, it has a massive 6.4inch QHD display + 454ppi, powered by Snapdragon’s 653 CPU, a massive 4000 mAh battery, running Android (of course), fingerprint scanner, and the 1st smartphone to offer Dolby Atmos sound w/ Dolby 5.1 audio capture. 

The Phab will capture your environments using 4 cameras: an 8MP in the front, a 16MP RGB on the rear, a depth & motion cameras.  This will be able to play VR shooting games, play a domino AR game, stage your home virtually (moving furniture, adding/removing pieces, etc.), and much more.  

It will be available globally this September unlocked for $499 as it will be available at Lenovo’s site and retailers like Best Buy & Lowe’s.
