Microsoft made sure to kick off the work week w/ quite a surprise move.  They announced this morning that they just purchased LinkedIn for $26.2 billion.  This marks Satya Nadella’s 1st big acquisition since becoming the CEO.

They plan to integrate LinkedIn into many of their apps & services like Office, Skype, and Cortana to name a few.  Microsoft will keep LinkedIn as a separate app w/ the current CEO intact.  This adds more of a focus on their cloud services and less on Windows.  All of this while acquiring 433 million more users.   Not too shabby of a deal.

The deal is said to close sometime later this year.  For those of you interested, you can read Nadella’s letter to LinkedIn employees here.
