20160607_153430Microsoft & Mojang have teamed up to bring the power of Minecraft to use for educational purposes.  Introducing Minecraft Education Edition that will allow teachers & students to collaborate together to build projects as well as solving problems.  The official launch is due out in September but teachers will have access to it today for free.

You will be able to play w/ up to 30 students together or work in pairs/groups.  Users will have access to collecting evidence and screenshots to save within a portfolio.  Teachers will have the ability to act as a non-player character to be a guide and offer up instruction or info.  Educators can also utilize virtual chalkboards to show players what the goals are, instructions, or challenges to solve in 3 different sizes.

The official launch is only a few short months away for students.  The Education Edition will cost you between $1 & $5 for each copy.  This is such an amazing resource to be utilized for educational purposes.  I hope this takes off to where other methods of learning are introduced to the classroom.
