The recently-acquired DirecTV just announced some powerful new features for their app. They named it Watch it Anywhere feature as it adds cool things like live streaming from the app as well as being able to download content from your DVR for streaming or offline viewing like a Slingbox.
The new features arrive thanks to a new update to the DirecTV app for iOS (Android update coming soon) along w/ free data usage for AT&T users when streaming DirecTV. The live streaming grants you access to their 315 different channels wherever there’s internet access. You can watch new shows or pick up where you left off on shows that aired within the last 72 hours.
In order to take advantage of this, you will need a DirecTV subscription (of course), the app, and their Genie HD DVR (44 or later) w/ a home internet connection. If you’re a DirecTV and/or an AT&T subscriber, this is the move to make right now.
