TGSB-N5-review-cThis is dedicated to all of you Nexus loyalists out there still holding on to hope after the Pixel.  You can officially let it go as the dream is dead.  Google has absolutely zero plans for future Nexus devices as they said at the Pixel event.

However, Google will still continue to offer support for Nexus owners.  So you guys are getting completely written off by Google.  The current Nexus devices will get updated Android 7.1 eventually but don’t expect to have Google Assistant baked throughout the OS like on the Pixel.  At this point, you can think of the Nexus program was a very long beta that gained a cult-like following.

The Nexus One (HTC) came out in 2010 and ended last year in 2015 w/ the beloved Nexus 6P (Huawei).  Although I am a huge fan of the Nexus devices (both smartphones & tablets), it never really took off for the masses.  This still applies to this day w/ the newer companies trying to pierce into the awareness of the public.   For the mass majority, the only brand everyone really knows are the Galaxy line and the iPhone.

Whether you loved them or hated them, it was still a hell of run, though.
