Apparently, across the tech blogs yesterday there is a new version of Google Voice in the works and set to arrive for its users very soon. On the desktop version of the app, users are seeing a new banner about the new Google Voice is here – but it’s not here yet.
Google Voice is one of Google’s great products that has been sitting on the shelf for a while as the updates for it have been far and between. GV has been treated like the forgotten middle child for quite some time now. Meanwhile, Google Hangouts became a bigger thing as well as Messenger and now Allo.
The mobile app is severely barebones and in need of some new tricks. I pray that the new GV carries over to the mobile side of things as well. This is the best news ever from a Google Voice user. I, for one, can’t wait to see what the future of GV looks like – now that we know it actually has one.
