Yesterday, Apple refreshed their laptops to let us know that they’re still taking MacBooks seriously.  This wasn’t just your standard refresh of the latest CPUs but more options for a more powerful laptop.  So say hello to more powerful & more expensive MacBook Pros.

FYI: The most expensive MacBook Pro is now $6,700.  Yikes!

First and foremost, nothing has changed w/ the MacBook, MacBook Air, & 13inch MacBook Pro w/o touch bar.  All of the changes went to the 13inch & 15inch w/ touch bar MacBook Pros.  Now that is out of the way, let’s talk about everything Apple added to the mix.

The displays & the touch bar gets True Tone display technology that brings a more natural viewing experience w/ 500 nits of brightness & support for P3 wide color gamut.  Since there were issues w/ the current-gen butterfly mechanisms in the keyboards, the new 3rd-gen keyboards should be much better & quieter typing.  The new MacBooks also add Apple T2 chip last seen in the iMac Pro.  This adds ‘Hey Siri’ feature to the MacBook along w/ improved security for a secure boot & encrypted storage.  You still have a 10-hour battery life and Thunderbolt 3 USB-C for faster transfers, charging, and can support 2 5K monitors.

Now onto the good stuff.  The 13inch MBPro offers quad-core Intel Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs up to 2.7GHz w/ Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz.  As well as RAM up to 16GB, 2TB SSD storage, and Intel Iris 655 integrated GPU.  Basically, giving you up to 2x the performance.  While the 15inch MBPro offers a 6-core Intel Core i7 or Core i9 CPU up to 2.9GHz w/ Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz.  As well as RAM up to 32GB, 4TB of SSD storage, and Radeon Pro GPU w/ 4GB of video memory.  Giving you a 70% boost in overall performance from last year’s models.

So w/ all of the new upgrades present, has Apple reassured your faith in the MacBook Pro?
