Most people have some sort of lamp of sorts on their desk.  The issue w/ this is that is that it can lead to eye strain from not enough brightness over the course of a long period of time.  The folks over at BenQ came up w/ a solution that doesn't get in the way & offers control over the light w/ the ScreenBar lamp.

This is a super slim light that rests on your monitor to light up the area in front of your screen.  Also, it connects to the back of the monitor so it's taking up no space on your desk.  I've had it attached to my older 21.5inch iMac for a few weeks now as we're ready to tell you about it and if we would recommend it or not.

The ScreenBar is comprised of an aluminum alloy that's sandblasted + adonized, a polycarbonate base that attaches to any monitor w/o taking up space, USB-powered so you won't ever need batteries, and takes up zero room on your desk.  Mind you when clamping it, you may have to move it a bit off-center to access the built-in webcam .  I don't really use it so I was fine slightly blocking it.   As far as what you can do w/ the light itself, it is there to light up your work area while providing a safe & glare-free light for your eyes.

To control it all, you got soft-touch buttons on the top for easy access/adjustments.  From right-to-left, the Power button, then the Auto-Dimmer button, Hue Adjustment button that goes from warm to cool color temperature, and a Manual Dimmer button for more control over the light.  Also, this is LED light that goes from warm orange to a cool blue.

The ScreenBar: the desk lamp you didn't know you need.

Now I don't have the minimal YouTube desk setup as my desk is near a window w/ a lamp above to shine down.  So I was curious about using the ScreenBar lamp to see if I could work w/o my lamp & rely solely on the BenQ solution in the dark.  I absolutely could.  The LED is bright enough to see almost all of my desk w/o any huge reflection from the screen.

Most desks don't stay clean & free of clutter so if this can take care one less thing to worry about so be it.  All while in control of your eye health by adjusting the temp & brightness.  So w/ all that going for it, I can say it is a great accessory for those of you who spend many hours on a computer.  Definitely lives up to the $99 price tag that BenQ is asking.
