Looks like Google will soon be getting into making their very own Smart Displays.  According to the the folks over at Nikkei, Google is going in and going in hard as well.  The report suggests that Google told their Taiwanese partners to gear up as they’re prepping to ship 3 million units for their initial run.

Google announced the Smart Display to combat Amazon’s Echo Show back at CES as they partnered w/ Lenovo, LG, JBL, & Sony.  This utilizes Android in the form of Android Things OS and gives Google Assistant a face w/ their card-based UI.  I haven’t been a fan of the designs of most of the Smart Displays save for Lenovo & Sony.  I am definitely curious to see what Google’s design on it will look like.

Interesting as I thought they would do things the other way around w/ Google dropping the 1st one and then allowing others to make them.  Instead, we got it the other way around.  BTW, You can check out our review on Lenovo’s Smart Display below as our 2 cents dropped earlier today.
