We got a Samsung Unpacked event coming up in just a few short days.  We know the Galaxy Note 10 is coming to kick off the wave of flagship smartphones for the 2nd half of the year.  Based on the rumors and leaks out there, we’re not expecting a lot of announcements but we could be wrong.

Let’s dive into what we are expecting shall we?

Galaxy Note 10 & Galaxy Note 10+

So instead of the standard one Note device that has been since forever (except for the Note 4 & Note 4 Edge), we getting 3 Note devices.   They will be the Galaxy Note 10, Note 10+ & Note 10+ 5G.  More on the last one in a little bit.

The Note 10 is said to offer a 6.3inch Dynamic AMOLED display w/ damn-near zero bezels and a single hole punch camera in the top center.  No microSD card slot for storage expansion, a 3500 mAh battery w/ 12W wireless charging.

While the Note 10+ is said to offer a 6.8inch Dynamic AMOLED display, a microSD card slot, an additional ToF (Time Of Flight) sensor for better portrait depth effects as well as for AR purposes, and a massive 4300 mAh battery w/ 20W wireless charging + up to 45W USB-C charging.

Both the Note 10 & Note 10+ is said to offer a Snapdragon 855+ CPU, 8GB of RAM + 256GB of storage, (Note 10+ up to 12GB of RAM possibly), a 10MP single selfie camera, and a triple rear-facing camera system comprised of a f/1.5-f/2.4 12MP main sensor, an f/2.2 ultra-wide 16MP sensor, and a f/2.1 telephoto sensor w/ 2x optical zoom.

As you can see from the image above, the dream is dead.  They’re getting rid of the headphone jack here.  So that probably means moving forward it won’t be present as well.  They’ll have a dongle present like everyone else at this point.  Hopefully it will at least be included in the box.

And last but not least, the S Pen.  There’s not a lot to report on other than the addition of navigation & doing shortcuts w/ it by not touching the phone.   I know what you’re thinking, they kind of sounds like Air Gestures but this would the next level of that and move into more motion sensing.  Sounds dope as I’m curious to see what that looks like.

Galaxy Note 10+ 5G

Since 5G is here  and live on all 4 3 US carriers, look out for a 5G variant of the Note 10+.  The image above shows off an upcoming Verizon promo for the device.  Samsung did the same thing earlier this year w/ the Galaxy S10+.  We’re not sure if the Note 10+ 5G will offer a larger display or an extra feature or 2.  We know it should offer a larger battery to handle that 5G speed though but we’ll have to wait & see.

Galaxy Book S

This one was from a more recent leak from late last week.  We already got the Galaxy Book and we may soon have the Galaxy Book S.  Like the Book, this would be made to compete against Microsoft’s Surface line of products.

Namely the Surface Laptop specifically.  It will be powered by a Snapdragon processor – 855 possibly, 8GB of RAM, a single USB-C port and a headphone jack.  Other than that, we can assume an either 10-12inch touchscreen display as details are pretty sketchy w/ this one.  Even pricing but we only have a few short days to find out.

More Tidbits

  • We’re expecting to hear more details on the Galaxy Fold September launch.
  • We may actually get an arrival date for the Bixby-powered Galaxy Home speaker.  Maybe.

So w/ all of these things coming or possibly looming to arrive, Samsung is looking to cover all bases for the fall & holiday season.  We already know about the Galaxy Tab S6 and Galaxy Watch Active 2.

The event kicks of at 4PM EST in the Barclay Center as we’ll be there to see it live and report back to you all.  So what announcement are you looking forward to?
