Sony WF-SP800N Earbuds: My New Favorites From Sony

So you got the WF-1000XM3s, the XB700s, & now the SP800Ns from Sony. This is their latest product that offers a 3rd option within their earbud line. The 1000XM3 are the top-tier w/ noise canceling & other premium features. The XB700s are the everyday wearers w/ physical buttons and on the larger side. The SP800Ns sit in-between w/ some noise-canceling, sweat-proof, & more. After 2 weeks, we’re ready to share our assessment of them & talk about them. So let’s get started.

In regards to its appearance & aesthetic, they’re on the larger side but not as larger as XB700s. It gets an IP55 rating for a sweat & splash-proof design that helps gives them their fitness flavor to sweat. It has a matte finish w/ plastic area for touch control panels instead of physical buttons are they’re good enough. You got LED lights underneath them to show off Red lights when charging and no lights when fully charged.

They have a rubber arc support that sits inside of your ear that definitely helps make it a better fit. It doesn’t get uncomfortable after long periods of wearing either. There are smart sensors onboard that will automatically pause when you take the earbuds off. I was able to rock them for almost 9 hours at a time w/o being uncomfortable at all.

Here you get Sony's signature sound, extra bass & digital noise-canceling in one package.

The SP800Ns retains the amazing Sony signature sound that I and others know and love. You still got the benefits of Sony’s extra bass but adds the digital noise-canceling to the mix as well as Ambient Sound + Sony’s app support. So this gives you a good amount of kick, good clarity, and a full soundstage. It offers Bluetooth 5.0 & SBC/AAC sound profile support as well. It also handles calls very well in regards to the mic quality and people hearing me on the other end.

The battery life on the SP800Ns mirror that of the XB700s – sort of. You get up to 9 hours of juice on a single charge – but that’s w/ their digital noise canceling on. With it off, you can get up to 13 hours on a single charge. The charging case that comes w/ it doubles the battery life. No wireless charging support but it does offer quick charging to give you an hour of juice for a 10-minute charge. Although you don’t have magnets to set them in place inside, it has placeholders to fit perfectly inside.

Sony hit a sweet spot in their earbuds lineup w/ the SP800s

I think Sony hit a sweet spot w/ the SP800s by offering the best of what they have to offer w/o missing out on too much or anything at all. These give you everything from noise-canceling, extra bass, good sound, & up to 13-hour battery life. However, there is a premium for all of that it has to offer w/ a $200 price tag on it. This might be too pricey for some but better suited for others. It may work as a better alternative for those of you who have problems w/ AirPods or AirPods Pro staying in your ears. I think either way, you won’t be disappointed in these.
