Skullcandy Crusher Evo: Great Cans w/ Better Bass Than Any Other Headphones

So last time we reviewed a pair of Skullcandy headphones, it was their top-tier Crusher ANC headphones almost a year ago. My only gripe on it was about the pricing as it was around $320. Now the new Crusher Evos look damn near identical to the Crusher ANCs. Although it lacks the ANC capabilities, I think this might be a better pair of cans. We would definitely chalk this up in one of our favorite pair of cans for different reasons. So let’s talk about what’s so great about them, what’s not, & if you should pick these up or not.

Skullcandy didn’t do things differently here as it maintains a subtle yet clean look/feel to it. The Crusher Evos offers a headband w/ a fabric cover on top and comfortable rubber on the rear as well as deep-cushioned synthetic leather earcups. There are no touch panels here as you got buttons on the rear of each cup. You got media controls on the right cup and on the left cup, you got Power/connect via Bluetooth button, ports, & Crusher Bass slider.

Simple, subtle, & effective design.

All while still offering a swiveling design to lay on your shoulders and can fold to get even smaller as well to carry. And speaking of carrying them around, this is the 1st headphone bag that looks good & actually worth mentioning. You got a durable nylon fabric carrying bag that’s not water-resistant but can help keep it from the accidental splash.

The new Crusher Evos are around 11oz or 0.68lbs which is the same weight as the Crusher ANCs.  Despite not being lightweight, these are still comfy enough to wear for hours at a time w/ ease – like 6-8 hours to be exact. This includes wearing glasses w/ them as well. And last but not least like many other Skullcandy products, this has a Tile Bluetooth tracker built-in. This helps you keep up with them if you misplace them.  Always good to have on products.

Behind these Skullcandy cans, you got 40mm drivers doing all of the heavy lifting. The Crusher Evos gives you amazing overall sound output w/ good clarity, good vocals, good mids + lows for just about everything you listen to. I spent most of my time watching you YouTube videos + podcasts but I did revisit SchoolBoy Q’s discography as well as some R&B playlists.

Big sound w/ even bigger bass.

This sound gets better when you personalize it using a service called Audiodo within the Skullcandy app. Like many other audio apps, you have to go through tests to check your ability to hear select frequencies at different levels. Afterwards, you get a custom EQ profile that you can turn on/off w/ ease. This works fine but it didn’t dramatically improve the overall sound for me.

Now my feature is the Sensory Bass slider which may sound gimmicky but it actually works & works well. The slider enhances the bass experience by beefing up its output on whatever you’re listening to as well as adding a thumping experience. I loved it before on the Crusher ANCs & I still love them here.

Over my 2 weeks w/ the Crusher Evos, the battery life on these have been amazing. Skullcandy quotes them w/ 40 hours of battery life and it lives up to it w/ ease. With shorter hours at work, I can listen to these for about a full week before needing to run to the charger. The Rapid Charge on board is also amazing as a 10-minute charge gives you 4-hours of juice. And yes, you got a USB-C port to charge them BTW. So you won’t have to worry about being w/o them for a long period of time. These are easily among the top tier cans for battery life.

The Crusher Evos gives you great sound + amazing bass in an experience that stands out against other cans.

I was impressed by the Crusher ANCs and still, if not, more so w/ the Crusher Evos. These give you great sound, a unique + welcoming bass experience, long battery life, built-in Tile tracking, and offers a comfortable fit + good seal. All within a great overall package. This is available for $200 at various retailers (physical + online) BTW. If you’re not a fan of big bass experience, these Crusher Evos might not be for you. Of course, bass lovers apply only.
