Despite being the most affordable modern iPhone from Apple, there’s no need to test how strong its Ceramic Shield 2 is on your $600 iPhone 17e. No device, regardless of its durability claims, is immune to accidental damage or the need for additional protection.
It’s also worth noting that the iPhone 16e and 17e share the same dimensions. So if you’re looking and don’t see many iPhone 17e options, the previous-generation 16e cases will fit just fine.
But if you’re on the hunt for a clear, protective, kickstand option or an outstanding overall case for everyday use, we’ve got you covered. While we can’t test every 17e case, we tested options from over 20 manufacturers and narrowed them down to our eight favorites for Apple’s 2026 budget phone.
The $22 Spigen Rugged Armor (MagFit) Case is a slim, simple, and our favorite everyday case for the iPhone 17e. It’s made with a combination of strong plastic or PC (polycarbonate) and rubber-like plastic or TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) with the company’s multi-layered corner protection. The case has a built-in magnet for MagSafe support, and it sticks perfectly to just about all MagSafe accessories.
If you’re looking for a variety of color options, this won’t be the case for you, as it only comes in black. However, the company did add some carbon-fiber-like accents to the top and bottom rear portions to break up the visual monotony of the all-black case. In addition, there’s a textured exterior covering most of the rear with the company logo at the bottom. Spigen provides lanyard support, textured sides for a comfortable grip, ridged button covers, and mildly raised edges for camera and screen protection. The case also offers precision cutouts for the 17e’s USB-C port, mics, and speakers.
Spigen offers a two-year limited warranty that covers case defects for their standard cases. Despite being a bit flimsy without a phone inside, the case survived a few drops on concrete and kept my 17e intact. It essentially lives up to Spigen’s military-grade certification. Ignoring its name, this is a great case option, with its slim profile while still providing sufficient coverage to the important parts of your 17e.
We also like the $36 UAG Essential Armor Case, which adds a bit more thickness along with it as an everyday case option. This case is primarily made of TPU and offers MagSafe support, additional corner protection, and meets military drop test standards of up to 15ft. Its button covers protrude enough to not sit flush with the case’s profile, and the cutouts are accurate for easy access. There’s nothing wrong with this case; I just prefer the slimmer Spigen option.
The $17 Spigen Ultra Hybrid (MagFit) or the $19 Ultra Hybrid Neo One (MagFit) cases are solid, clear options and made from a combination of PC and TPU. Both are relatively the same case. The only difference between the two is the aesthetics; the standard Ultra Hybrid has a matte finish on the rear, while the Neo One offers the internal iPhone schematics printed on the rear. I do prefer the Neo One case, visually.
Both clear cases provide MagSafe support, a solid grip, slightly raised edges for screen and camera protection, raised button covers for easy access, and accurate cutouts for the camera, speakers, mics, and charging. However, despite using it for only a few months, the Neo One case is already starting to change color a bit. Spigen also offers a two-year warranty that covers defects.
The $70 Rokform Rugged Case continues to be a premium tank in both build and pricing. It’s reminiscent of the olden days of thicker, Otterbox cases, as the TPU case has a PC shell with reinforced corners and native MagSafe support. Typically, they’re on the thicker side, but for the smaller 17e, it’s just right. However, it could be too thick for some.
The Rokform case also provides military-grade protection to handle shocks and drops up to 6ft, and provides an optional slit for lanyard support. The company also includes its proprietary twistlock mounts that can be swapped out for other Rokform accessories. And like nearly every other case, Rokform offers a two-year limited warranty, which covers case defects only, not any wear and tear.
We also like the $60 Rhinoshield AirX Case, which has an interesting design. While most protective cases are thicker, this one has a wider profile. This phone case is made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) with MagSafe support, air-cushioned on all sides, and fortified corners for complete protection of your 17e. The sides are so flush with their button covers that it’ll take a few times to get used to not feeling the buttons at all for access. However, it doesn’t have much of a grip anywhere, and I found it a bit slippery for my tastes.
If kickstand cases are your preference, then the $25 ESR Hybrid Magnetic Case with Stash Stand was made for you and your iPhone 17e. The case is made of a TPU frame with a PC and acrylic back with built-in magnets for MagSafe support. It arrives in four different color options: clear, clear black, frosted black, and frosted light blue.
ESR designed this case with smooth button covers, corner bumpers to help shield from drops, slightly raised edges for screen protection, and exact port, mic, and speakers cutouts. While it feels good to hold in hand, my only wish is that the ESR case provided some ridges or grooves on the side to enhance the grip. In addition to its quoted 16ft drop protection, ESR provides up to a two-year warranty to handle any manufacturer defects.
The built-in kickstand is made of a zinc alloy and is located where the camera cutout is, and it works great in both horizontal and vertical angles. I’ve opened and closed it dozens of times over the course of a few months, and it still holds the 17e up strong.
If you need a tougher kickstand case, then look no further than the $60 Zagg Denali Snap with Kickstand. The case is comprised of a combination of TPU and Graphene, which the company calls the latter, one of the strongest materials in the world. Zagg also quotes the case for drop protection up to a whopping 16ft. But we didn’t test it from such a height, as Apple wants their 17e back from me in a few months. The case sits between being grippy and slippery while adding a bit of bulk to your phone. It also has grooves on the rear with button covers and ample cutouts for the 17e’s Action button, USB-C port, mics, and speakers.
The $17 Crave Dual Guard Case is the answer for those seeking complete protection, but don’t care about Qi2 MagSafe wireless charging at all. The Dual Guard case nearly covers all bases and checks all boxes. So much so that if Crave offered a MagSafe version, this would’ve been our pick for the best overall case.
It’s a dual-layer case setup with a rubber-like plastic or TPU on the outside and a hardshell plastic on the inside. The mostly pebble-textured exterior makes it easy to grip and hold with a small lip for extra coverage around your phone’s screen and camera lens. Crave also equipped it with plastic, yet clicky button covers with precise cutouts for its mics, speakers, and USB-C port. Crave’s lifetime warranty covers its cases and not any phone damage.
